08/25/04, Summary of discussions with Leigh Sykes:

  • No additional monitoring fees for low temp., because we already have monitoring for the Fire Sprinkler System
  • The sensors installed in the units are Radio Frequency and do not require wires to be run to the central monitoring system
  • Unit sensors dimensions are about  -  2" X 2" X 1"
  • Unit transmitter dimensions are about - 3" X 1" X 1"
  • Sensors are mounted to wall about 6 inches from the floor
  • Sensors are place by plumbing fixtures, usually by the bathroom or kitchen
  • Low temp. alarms are triggered about 40 degrees
  • Sensors use Lithium batts., last aprox 5 years, no ac needed in units
  • Leigh needs about 2 weeks lead time to install

Thx Leigh, attempting to sell this idea to the owners and need to have an idea of the location/placement of the sensors/transmitters in an owners unit. In a typical installation, where would the sensor/transmitter be installed in a kitchen or bathroom, mounted to a wall? YES ABOUT 6 inches of the floor

I would imagine the sensors/transmitters should not be moved by the owner given the RF connectivity to the receiver, but if the owner did decide to move the sensor/transmitter to another room in their unit, is there a indicator on the transmitter if it successfully reaching the receiver?  YES in the control see the rec is normal if not a trouble shows for that unit and is sent to the central station

Does the Burglar Alarm/low temp sensor have additional functionality, ie

unit burglar alarm capabilities? YES although you need a key pad in each

unit with alarm and alarm equipment, door switches infar red units etc and

siren. additional cost depending on how much equipment and then how many

units want this may mean a larger panel than the 32 zone one quoted.

Are the unit sensors/transmitters hidden, ie in bathroom sink vanity

cabinet? yes  then can be installed any where although if you shield them

from air flow they will take longer to work.

All the Village units are single level dwelling with the exception of the

four bedroom units, would you recommend two sensors in the 4 bedroom units

one in the upper level bathroom and one the in the lower level bathroom?

If this is the case I believe the number of sensors needed is the same as

what was quoted. they cover an area thats the size of the room that they

are in if you have electric heat you may need more for early warning as

that heat can fail in a room and two rooms away the temp can be much

higher
