Jean Nicolai called the meeting saying that the state was getting pressure from the EPA to address disinfectant by-products in water systems and they in turn wanted to make it clear that we needed to get going on solving the problem (my words). There were a least 6 people from the Division present including: Gary Shultz, Jean Nicolai, Ellen Par-Doering, Tim Raymond and Rod Pingree as well as me, Mike Bernandine and Bernie Chenette. We discussed developing a schedule for continuing the search for new water supply using wells and resolving water quality issues. We agreed that if we did not find a well water source by this fall we would have to develop and permit an engineering plan for re-working the filter plant to address disinfectant by product issues as a part of the treatment process. We agreed to submit a written schedule incorporating our discussion within 2 weeks. The Division also made it clear that we need to introduce new lead and copper treatments without waiting for the development of new wells. We are working on this now. We also set up a meeting to have wells 4 and 4a checked to address concerns regarding chlorine contact times for water from those wells. Lastly, we agreed that we were behind schedule for installing the water level controls and agreed to do that asap. I will forward you a copy of our proposed schedule when we submit it to the State. Please let me know if you have any questions. Regards, Larry Williams
